Lupita Nyong’o and John Woo are teaming up to remake one of the director’s classic films.

According to Deadline Black Panther star Lupita Nyong’o is currently in talks to star in John Woo’s upcoming remake of the The Killer.

The original iteration of Woo’s Hong Kong flick was released in 1989 and starred Chow Yun-fat in the role of an assassin named Ah Jong.

If negotiations go through, Nyong’o would be assuming the role originated by Yun-fat, with Woo returning to direct the remake.

Woo will be directing off of a script written by Eran Creevy who most recently penned Collide. Creevy in turn has based his script off of an original draft written by Josh Campbell and Matt Stuecken, the scribes behind Cloverfield Lane.

The Killer centers on an assassin (Nyong’o) who risks it all in an effort to save a woman whom she accidentally blinded while performing her last hit.

In the original movie, Yun-fat’s assassin character hopes to use his earnings to help restore the vision of the singer he accidentally blinded during a hit. Things go belly up, however, after the assassin ends up getting double crossed by his boss.

We’ll be excited to see Lupita Nyong’o step into another role that allows her to show off her action movie skills.

There’s currently no theatrical release date in the books for The Killer, but the studio is hoping to begin production on the remake
