Lupita Nyong’o will be teaming up with Trevor Noah for her next big screen project!

According to Deadline, Academy Award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o has officially signed on to star in the big screen adaptation of The Daily Show host Trevor Noah’s bestselling autobiography, Born a Crime.

The Black Panther star will play Noah’s mother, Patricia, and we’re sure she’ll deliver an incredibly compelling performance.

Those who picked up Noah’s book, which was first published in 2016, will undoubtedly remember the story of how Patricia survived a shot to the head in 2009 while coming home from a church service. It was none other than Noah’s stepfather who pulled the trigger.

In addition to starring in the big screen adaptation, Nyong’o will also be putting in some work behind the scenes on the project.

She’ll be serving as a producer on the film along with Noah, who will be producing through his Ark Angel Productions. Other producers on the forthcoming film include Norman Aladjem, Derek Van Pelt and Sanaz Yamin, all of whom are part of Mainstay Entertainment.

In a tweet that she paired with a photo of herself and the host of The Daily Show, Nyong’o tweeted, “When I read @Trevornoah’s “Born A Crime.” I could not put the book down. Excited to announce that I will be starring in and producing its feature film adaptation!”

We’ll be looking forward to seeing who else gets cast alongside Lupita Nyong’o in the big screen adaptation of Trevor Noah’s Born a Crime!
