True Blood actor Luke Grimes will play Christian Grey’s brother in Fifty Shades of Grey.

In the books by E.L. James, Elliot Grey is first seen when he goes with Christian to pick up Anastasia who’s drunk at a Portland bar. While there Elliot meets a new character named Kate Kavanagh, and the two eventually marry and have a daughter. He is described as being in his early 30s and has had sex with “most of Seattle,” Christian says at one point about his brother.

Grimes appeared as James in the most recent season of True Blood and also starred as Ryan in ABC’s Brothers & Sisters.

We wonder if Grimes would’ve had the role of Christian’s brother whether or not Charlie Hunnam had departed the project. Since the brothers are only related by adoption, he likely would’ve had the role either way (though in the photo above he could be compared to Charlie in terms of looks).

Earlier this week we learned that Christian Grey will be portrayed by Jamie Dornan who stepped into the role following the sudden departure of Hunnam. The Sons of Anarchy star left the project after getting cold feet about the franchise, and reports indicate it was his agent who initially pressured him into taking the role.

Fifty Shades of Grey stars Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele and is slated to hit theaters August 1, 2014. The film is scheduled to begin filming next month.
