Heads up, Luke Cage fans! The hit Netflix Marvel series just booked a huge name to direct its season 2 premiere.

Vulture reports that Elementary star Lucy Liu has officially signed on to direct the the season 2 premiere of Luke Cage.

Liu sparked some online buzz earlier this year when fans caught wind that the actress had been hanging around the set back in June. Many began speculating if perhaps the actress might have scored a role on Luke Cage, but we’re sure there aren’t many who accurately guessed that she’d actually scored a role behind the camera.

In a statement announcing her involvement with the Marvel television series, Liu spoke about what it meant for her to step in to direct an episode of the show.

“What a thrill to collaborate with Marvel and Netflix, two industry titans, who paint our world with inspiring stories and beguiling characters,” said Liu according to Variety. “It is such an honor to work with such a passionate and fearless team.”

Though Liu is best known for her acting chops, the actress is no stranger to sitting in the director’s chair. Liu’s past directing credits include quite a bit of television, including an episode of Graceland, and four episodes of her Sherlock inspired series, Elementary.

Given that Liu has previous experience directing for television, we’re sure she’ll bring an interesting eye to the first episode of Luke Cage season 2.

We’ll definitely be looking forward to seeing what Liu does with her stint in the director’s chair when Luke Cage picks back up again.

Luke Cage season 2 is set to premiere on Netflix sometime in 2018.
