Pretty Little Liars alumn Lucy Hale is heading back to the big screen!

According to Deadline, actress Lucy Hale has signed on to star in the leading role of upcoming indie rom-com, A Nice Girl Like You.

Hale will be playing Lucy Neal in the upcoming film, which is based on a true story by Ayn Carillo-Gailey. Lucy is described as being an “adorable, follow-the-rules, somewhat repressed, well-educated violinist.”

When she’s suddenly accused of being too inhibited by her ex-boyfriend, Lucy setts out on a quest to prove him wrong. What starts off as an attempt to complete a wild to-do list turns into a journey of self-discovery, friendship, and new love.

Hale is likely best known for her work on Freeform’s incredibly popular dramatic thriller Pretty Little Liars where she played Aria Montgomery for seven seasons until the series came to a close in 2017.

Since wrapping on Pretty Little Liars, Hale has kept busy booking a handful of gigs. The actress notably starred opposite Teen Wolf alumn Tyler Posey in this year’s horror thriller Truth or Dare.

Hale also starred on The CW’s 2018 freshman dramedy Life Sentence. Hale played a young woman named Stella on the short-lived series, who must figure out how to live life after suddenly discovering she’s been cured of her terminal cancer.

Directed by siblings Chris and Nick Riedell, the upcoming rom com was adapted for the big screen from Carillo-Gailey’s story by Andrea Marcellus.

A Nice Girl Like You currently has no release date, but the film is expected to begin shooting this month in New Jersey.
