Hulu had decided to move up the premieres of its two upcoming series — Love, Victor and Taste the Nation — in observance of Juneteenth.

Both Love, Victor and Taste the Nation had been initially set to premiere on Hulu on Friday, June 19th.

However, the streamer today released an official statement on their Twitter account about the new premiere dates, saying that, “This coming June 19 — Juneteenth — will mark 155 years since slavery was abolished in America. This date represents an important turning point for our nation and for human rights, and we believe that now, more than ever, it deserves to have its own day in the spotlight. For this reason, we are shifting the premiere dates for our new original series, Love, Victor and Taste the Nation, to June 17th and 18th, respectively.”

Love, Victor is set in the world of the 2018 groundbreaking film Love, Simon, the series follows Victor, a new student at Creekwood High School on his own journey of self-discovery, facing challenges at home, adjusting to a new city, and struggling with his sexual orientation. When it all seems too much, he reaches out to Simon to help him navigate the ups and downs of high school.

The 10-episode dramedy explores Victor’s colorful and complex world, from his loving family, to his new friends and first crushes.

Taste the Nation follows award winning cookbook author, host and executive producer Padma Lakshmi as she takes audiences on a journey across America, exploring the rich and diverse food culture of various immigrant groups and seeking out the people who have so heavily shaped what American food is today.

From indigenous communities to recent immigrant arrivals, Padma breaks bread with Americans across the nation to uncover the roots and relationship between our food, our humanity and our history – ultimately revealing stories that challenge notions of identity, belonging, and what it means to be American.
