Another day, another The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack preview. Today we get a peek at Lorde’s cover of “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.”

The song was originally by Tears For Fears in 1985, and Lorde’s interpretation is much darker than what you may remember.

We can’t wait to hear more about how this collaboration between Lorde and the film came together. Mainly, we’re curious how song this was selected (and who was the genius who realized this song would be a perfect opportunity for Lorde?).

The “Everybody Wants to Rule the World” lyrics are reminiscent of themes you’ll find in Catching Fire and the Hunger Games series on a whole:

Welcome to your life
There’s no turning back
Even while we sleep
We will find you

Acting on your best behaviour
Turn your back on mother nature
Everybody wants to rule the world

It’s my own design
It’s my own remorse
Help me to decide
Help me make the most

Of freedom and of pleasure
Nothing ever lasts forever
Everybody wants to rule the world

There’s a room where the light won’t find you
Holding hands while the walls come tumbling down
When they do I’ll be right behind you

In recent weeks we’ve shared with you other songs from the Catching Fire soundtrack including Imagine Dragons’ “Who We Are,” “Mirrors” by Ellie Goulding, “Lean” by The National, and The Lumineers‘ “Gale Song.” All of the songs are original to the soundtrack, and only Lorde’s tune is a cover.

The Catching Fire soundtrack drops November 19 and the film hits theaters November 22. Read our review of the movie.
