Patrick and Kevin are making some major moves and Agustîn gets a blast from the past. Find out who showed up in our Looking season 2, episode 9 recap.

Looking picks up on the lives of three men living in San Francisco who are old enough to not have many firsts left, yet are finding themselves with plenty of items to check off the bucket list. Patrick said he loved someone for the first time last week, Agustîn is beginning to live a sober life, Dom is trying to live out his dream of owning a restaurant. There are so many firsts to be had, but at the moment there are giant road blocks in the way of each guy and their happy ending.

On tonight’s Looking season 2, episode 9, the final hurdles are in place for Kevin, Dom, and Agustîn before next week’s finale. Kevin and Patrick are living their best couple’s life, looking at apartments, mattress shopping, and enjoying a drink or two with Patrick’s mom. Kevin is a charmer, getting her interested in the app the two of them created, and landing an invite to Christmas. But it is Patrick’s sister Megan who needs convincing that Patrick and Kevin are worth throwing Jon’s life into a tailspin.

Before Patrick meets up with Megan and his mom at the zoo, he and Kevin have a very serious chat about the apartment that Kevin just signed for. Down the road, when Patrick is ready, Kevin leased that place with the nice glass windows and his and his sinks for Patrick. He is ready to take the next step and live together. Another first for Patrick to cross off the list.

But first Mom and Megan have some news to break. Tired of always thinking she has to do the right thing and live a certain way, Patrick’s mother stops their bickering as she announces that she is considering leaving their father. After helping a friend through the death of their spouse, she hit it off with him emotionally and that spark has long left her marriage of 40 years. Her biggest concern is that her children do not see her as a monster.

Patrick does not see her as anything but a lost woman searching for something that will make her life feel as great as his and Kevin’s. A life that he confirms he wants to try to live together with him in. And Christmas with his parents is out of the question.

When the finances from Doris’ father’s will are put on hold, Doris tries to explain to a financially strapped Dom that this is out of her control. He tries to make amends for blowing up at her, but Doris has already had too much time to think. Is this all she has in life? Dom and his chicken? For too long she has put Dom first and now that she has someone she really cares about, she cannot walk around feeling guilty for taking attention away from him. This problem is turning out to be much larger than money.

Agustîn has a bit of a love affair this week with both the past and the future. Two ghosts from the past, his art career and his ex-beau Frankie, both appear to stir some drama into this otherwise fluid path. After Agustîn off-handedly mentions that he is going to take the responsible step and take PrEP to reduce his risk of contracting HIV, Eddie feels pretty great. Good enough to ask Agustîn to paint a mural. Agustîn caves and decides to collaborate with the teens at the shelter. Something that Frankie finds endearing.

But what about Eddie? Where do they stand? Agustîn finally lays it out for him. Eddie cannot go back and forth about what he wants any longer. They can fool around and stay friends or they can commit to being boyfriends, something that Agustîn would have done from the moment they went skinny dipping in the river. With a proper proposal and few wrong names, they make it official.
