Halloween masks Patrick’s appearance, but not his emotional baggage on tonight’s Looking season 2, episode 6. Find out what he has to say in our recap.

Putting on a costume gives you the freedom to take on the persona of another person for an entire night of drinking, dancing, and fun. But don’t be fooled by the wigs and fake armor, all of your troubles are still bottled up inside just waiting for your blood alcohol content to reach its tipping point. Patrick finds this out the hard way on tonight’s Looking season 2, episode 6, “Looking for Gordon Freeman.”

Finally, Dom, Patrick, and Agustîn have a scene of their own opening this week’s episode with some Halloween shopping. Instead of going as a trio, Patrick wants to pave the way for himself, going as Gordon Freeman, a video game character from Half-Life. While we do not think that Eddie’s positive nature is a turn off for Agustîn, eventually Agustîn does not have couple’s costume in his future just yet.

The best part of working in an office is the access to seemingly endless supply of free paper goods and staples. Patrick pops in t unburden the office of their excess plates and cups, but gets an extra treat during his trickery when Kevin pops in. He takes their first private moment since Kevin bailed on their relationship to announce that he will not only be declining Patrick’s invite to the party, but he is going to move to Seattle to make things right with Jon. Patrick takes it the bow with a stiff upper lip.

Agustîn and Eddie aren’t the only two having a bit of trouble in commitment zone. Doris, our wonderful heroine of the show, is having a minor, hilarious breakdown of her own. Breaking tradition with Dom of years of couple costumes (where is that scrapbook?), Doris reads Malik’s request to dress up as Sonny and Cher as a test run for living together. Dom, on the other hand, pushes Lynn far out of his mind and focuses on his latest venture, a Kickstarter campaign and managing @chickendom40.

Gordon Freeman and video game speak may not one that everyone recognizes, but alcohol is a universal language and Patrick is fluent. His party is in a word, boring. Patrick’s running around like a chicken without a head taking drinks and making everyone more uncomfortable than he is. Which brings us to battle of the lovers. After a hometown visit served as round one, round two puts Patrick and Brady at odds over PrEP, an HIV-preventative drug treatment.

The argument is handled gracefully enough and is diffused by Eddie before things get out of hand. Patrick looks like he just got kicked in the face, but another drink should fix him right up. Meanwhile, Malik steals Dom away to address his feelings about Doris, all of which are extremely good.

But a calm night is not in the cards for Patrick who decides to take the mic and deliver some entertainment. Jonathan Groff does not deliver a smashing ballad on the karaoke machine, though. Instead he starts off asking why no one is singing before moving on to announcing Dom’s lack of wealth to open a restaurant. Agustîn’s finally got his life together, that is after he was found basically in a gutter. Richie and Brady have the perfect relationship and he is glad that Kevin decided to show up with his new boyfriend before moving away to Seattle! But man those times when they were alone…

…and that’s enough…

Patrick is put out of his public misery, sending him outside to cool off and leaving Agustîn to finally clean up a mess instead of causing it. Before he heads back in, Kevin comes out, with John in tow and Patrick watches Kevin make his choice as he leaves the party.

Back inside, the survivors remain. Dom and Patrick sit with each other and watch as Doris and Malik make eyes, Agustîn revels in Eddie’s decision to stick around, and Richie and Brady haven’t given up on the party or Patrick just yet.
