Looking‘s first season is complete! Check out our final recap for the season 1 finale, “Looking Glass,” below!

Looking concludes with quite a few shocking, or maybe not so shocking, hook-ups and a few shifts in other relationships.

Sorry I’m Not Sorry: Patrick, worried about letting too much time pass, goes to see Richie at work and apologize. However, Patrick is met with a hostile beau, who is not ready to talk yet. Instead, Richie asks for space.

Agustîn hangs around Frank’s until morning. Still ready to end their relationship, Frank harshly informs Agustîn that if he ever finds success in art, it will be mediocre at best. Taking the pornographic unicorn off the wall, Agustîn seals the fate of their relationship by smashing it in half.

Dom tries to ease things over with Lynn after his attitude pushed him away from the pop up opening. He tries to call to check in on the flowers, but the need for his friend’s opinion and support pours through his cover up.

A View From Above: After showing up late for a group meeting with Kevin, Patrick and the cheating boss find themselves alone on the roof at lunch. They try to chat about the view, but Kevin jumps into a long and muddled apology, blaming weddings and alcohol, to which Patrick tries to leap over and avoid at all costs.

Agustîn decides the best way to get through his breakup is to pop some pills and ride the train for a bit. Arriving at Dom’s restaurant opening looking like a homeless bum, Patrick takes him under his wing as they head inside to support Dom’s venture.

Agustîn presses Patrick to talk about what he thinks the future holds for him and Richie. Besides his obvious hotness, Patrick finds his lack of cynicism and genuine look at life refreshing. Still reeling over Frank, Agustîn interrupts to suggest ending the relationship, but not before noticing that Kevin is texting Patrick.

The second half of the pop-up venture arrives, but not alone. Lynn comes in just in time to dine and schmooze all the investors, but it leaves Dom with a little extra jitter as he tries to micromanage everything else that is going on.

A Thing with…: Agustîn and Patrick take a break outside and talk about Kevin’s indiscretion. While Patrick tries to convince himself it meant nothing, Agustîn goes after Patrick’s weakness for the Brit. Meanwhile, inside, Doris corners Lynn to give the best-friend pep talk all great friends have stored in their back pocket. Dom is worth it, he is a great guy, takes Lynn’s word as gospel. Maybe he should not write off Dom so quickly.

Agustîn tries to weasel his way back into Patrick’s apartment, but Patrick slips away before he gives a final answer. Kevin continues to call with work problems and finally gets Patrick to come in. Only, the problem is not located on a server, it is planted in Kevin’s mind. Patrick’s unrequited infatuation with Kevin was not as one-sided as he was led to believe. Kevin takes their moment alone to confess that it takes a tremendous effort for him to be around Patrick every single day and not make a pass at him (to put it lightly).

Patrick tries to leave after reminding Kevin that he has a boyfriend, but instead of making it to the door, they only make it as far as the office couch. After Patrick lets Kevin into a level of trust that Richie did not gain, the question still remains, “What now?” Patrick’s “slip-up” not only betrays Richie’s trust, but reveals something to Patrick about the state of his relationship.

Lynn and Dom try to have a conversation about the state of their working relationship, which Lynn believes is best to end. Dom takes this as a sign that he can make an advance on his former business partner, which does not go unreciprocated.

Back at Patrick’s apartment, Richie waits around to chat about where they are and the issues he has with his own pride and Patrick’s concern about where Richie is from. Richie concedes that they moved too fast to start and his feelings are moving towards love, something Patrick is not ready for.

Their relationship remains in an ambiguous state at the close of their conversation, but one relationship is still in tact and need of tending. Patrick gets to his bed to find Agustîn passed out with Golden Girls playing. The final quote from the episode sums up the most important aspect of the season when Dorothy says, “I have compassionate friends around me.”
