Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters is shaping up to be a more loyal adaptation and a stronger movie than the first. Check out what star Logan Lerman has to say about the sequel.

In an interview with MTV’s Josh Horowitz, Lerman talks about Sea of Monsters and what we can expect from this second movie. Check out the video below.

Of particular interest here is that Lerman says the sequel will be bigger than the first. Not only does the story have a bigger scope, but the monsters and effects will be bigger as well.

When asked if the tone was similar to the first one, Lerman responds, “No, it’s more fun. It’s definitely got more comedic elements to this film, and it’s lighter.” Given the tone of the source material, with the series being categorized as middle grade, it makes sense that this movie would be funnier if it’s following the book more closely.

Lerman also says that there will be a lot of monsters in this movie, and that they won’t disappoint. So, what’s his favorite monster? The cyclops!

Percy Jackson: Sea of Monsters opens in theaters August 16, 2013. It stars Logan Lerman as Percy, Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth, Brandon T. Jackson as Grover, and Jake Abel as Luke. Nathan Fillion (Hermes), Stanley Tucci (Dionysus), Leven Rambin (Clarisse), and Douglas Smith (Tyson) also star.
