The penultimate episode of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries aired yesterday. Check out Hypable’s recap of episode 99 and then read what star Daniel Vincent Gordh had to say.

It’s a sad, sad day for Lizzie Bennet Diaries fans. Episode 99 was not only the last appearance of Daniel Vincent Gordh as William Darcy, it also means we only have one more episode to go before the series is finally over. Read our recap, and then check out our exclusive interview in which Gordh discusses episode 99 and a whole lot more.

Episode 99: “Future Talk”

Following on from the weekend’s adorable Q&A video featuring Darcy and Lizzie, Darcy was back once more, this time to hijack Lizzie’s videos and our hearts.

Darcy starts out alone, looking as awkward as can be. He finally manages to announce to Lizzie’s viewers that Dizzie had been going strong for six days – although Lizzie is quick to jump in and point out that it has been a week. Darcy: “I have it in my calendar.” Lizzie: “We’re rounding up.” Darcy allows himself to be convinced – we have a feeling Lizzie could convince him about anything really – and so he jumps straight into his introduction.

“My name is William Darcy, and Lizzie Bennet is amazing.” Cue titles, and the screaming of fangirls and fanboys everywhere.

This episode adapts the chapter of Pride and Prejudice where Lizzie demands to know when Darcy really fell for her, and teases him all about it. Lizzie tells Darcy she’s just kidding, and he lets us know that he has dined at the Bennet household enough recently to realize that. We imagine that Mrs. Bennet already has the wedding stationary planned out – and the baby names.

Darcy laments their first meeting, the “most awkward dance ever,” which Lizzie readily agrees with. She asks when his feelings changed towards her, and Gordh is given that gorgeous Austen line: “I was in the middle before I knew that I had begun.” Swoon. He turns the question back on her, and Clements gets her shot at Austen, crediting the beautiful offices at Pemberley Digital. We were worried that this reference wouldn’t make it in, so we take our Newsie caps off to Jay Bushman, the writer of “Future Talk.”

Lizzie gets a little handsy with Darcy’s tie, leading to one very obvious jump cut and a lot of messy hair. You can use your imagination.

It seems that Darcy has been thinking about the future – he has to head back to San Fransisco and Lizzie has to finish her degree (don’t worry, that’s in his calendar too). Good thing Darcy has the answer – a job offer at Pemberley Digital. We are glad that Lizzie rejects this idea. Instead she plans to set up her own company and become Darcy’s competitor. And she wants to set up that company in none other than San Francisco, so our lovers won’t be parted for long.

To finish up we get a quick reference to the similarities between Lydia and Gigi, something that will make a lot of shippers exceedingly happy. And Darcy has a pocket-watch, because, of course he does. He tells Lizzie that he has set up dinner with his Aunt Catherine and her family – maybe Darcy’s sense of humour isn’t so suppressed after all.

With that, we see the resolution of Lizzie and Darcy’s relationship – or should we be calling him William now? The move to San Francisco is clearly the modern equivalent of the marriage proposal. Now all that is left is to wrap everything up – and is that Lydia (Mary Kate Wiles) we see in the preview to episode 100?

Meanwhile, Gigi Darcy continues to represent all Dizzie shippers everywhere, with her Twitter freak-outs. We hear you Gigi, we hear you.

The Lizzie Bennet Diaries ends with episode 100 on Thursday, March 28 at 9 a.m. PT.
