Selena Gomez is gearing up to continue her partnership with Netflix.

According to Variety, actress and singer Selena Gomez has been hard at work producing a brand new documentary series with Netflix called Living Undocumented.

The forthcoming series is set to follow eight undocumented families and follow along as they live their lives while also living in fear of their potential for deportation.

On top of announcing the series, set to drop next month on Netflix, the online streaming giant also released the first trailer for Living Undocumented. Watch it below:

In a statement announcing the series, Selena Gomez revealed that she hopes Living Undocumented will allow viewers to gain a better understanding of what it’s really like to be an undocumented immigrant living in America.

“I chose to produce this series, Living Undocumented, because over the past few years, the word immigrant has seemingly become a negative word. My hope is that the series can shed light on what it’s like to live in this country as an undocumented immigrant firsthand, from the courageous people who have chosen to share their stories,” said Gomez.

In addition, Aaron Saidman, who will serve as co-director for the docuseries along with Anna Chai, released a statement in which he stressed why it’s important for stories of undocumented immigrants to be told now.

Living Undocumented is designed to illuminate one of the most important issues of our time,” said Saidman.
“But rather than discussing this issue with only statistics and policy debates, we wanted viewers to hear directly from the immigrants themselves, in their own words, with all the power and emotion that these stories reflect.”

Living Undocumented premieres via Netflix on October 2.
