Netflix’s Assassin’s Creed live-action series has finally found its scribe.

According to Variety, Netflix has tapped Jeb Stuart to serve as writer on its highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Assassin’s Creed.

Stuart is no stranger to Netflix, nor to the genre of action and adventure. Most recently, the writer was tasked with spearheading Netflix’s spinoff of the History Channel’s Vikings, Vikings: Valhalla.

His work on the aforementioned series will likely come in handy when it comes to adapting Assassin’s Creed for the online streaming giant.

Based on the hit open world video game franchise of the same name, the first game in the series debuted in 2007. It centers on the age-old rivalry between the Assassins and the Templars. Tensions between the two secret organizations have been waging for thousands of years, with the Assassins fighting for peace with free will, and the Templars looking to achieve peace through order and control.

The video game toggles between the past and the present, and there are no shortage of historical events and adventures that Stuart and Netflix could choose from to center the live-action series around.

Unfortunately, plot details with regards to the Assassin’s Creed live-action series at Netflix are being kept firmly under wraps for now.

In a statement announcing Netflix’s partnership with game developers, Ubisoft, back in October 2020, a spokesperson for the streaming platform said:

“We’re excited to partner with Ubisoft and bring to life the rich, multilayered storytelling that Assassin’s Creed is beloved for. From its breathtaking historical worlds and massive global appeal as one of the best selling video game franchises of all time, we are committed to carefully crafting epic and thrilling entertainment based on this distinct IP and provide a deeper dive for fans and our members around the world to enjoy.”

Currently, there’s no word on when we might expect to see the live-action Assassin’s Creed series debut via Netflix.
