Little Fires Everywhere by Celeste Ng is becoming a TV series with some very powerful ladies at the helm.

The adaptation, produced by ABC Signature Studios, will star Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington. The powerful duo will also act as executive producers on the limited series. THR reports that multiple outlets are hoping to win the series.

Reese Witherspoon confirmed the news via Twitter, attaching an adorable Snapchat picture of herself and Washington, holding copies of the book.

Little Fires Everywhere “explores the weight of long-held secrets and the ferocious pull of motherhood – and the danger of believing that planning and following the rules can avert disaster, or heartbreak.” The book follows Mia Warren, a mother with a mysterious past who moves into the “carefully ordered” community of Shaker Heights and causes immense controversy with her landlord surrounding the adoption of a Chinese-American baby.

Reese Witherspoon’s production company purchased the rights to the story last year, soon after the book’s release. If the success of Witherspoon’s Big Little Lies is any indication, this series will be huge for whichever network wins it.

Joining the team of Witherspoon and Washington, Liz Tigelaar will write the script for Little Fires Everywhere, and will also act as showrunner. The author of the book, Celeste Ng, will also serve as a producer on the series.
