Anna Kendrick has found her next starring role in Alice Darling — an all new psychological thriller coming down the pipeline at Lionsgate.

According to Deadline, Academy Award nominee Anna Kendrick has signed on to star in Lionsgate’s Alice Darling.

Described as a psychological thriller, Kendrick is on board to play the titular Alice for the forthcoming feature. Alice raises some red flags among her two best friends when she starts behaving strangely, and additionally starts being incredibly secretive about her boyfriend.

Suspicions rise and secrets are eventually revealed when Alice and her two friends head off on a girl’s trip out of town. Around this same time, a local girl goes missing, and Alice’s boyfriend mysteriously arrives unannounced at their out of town destination.

Others set to star opposite Anna Kendrick in the psychological thriller include Charlie Carrick, who will play Alice’s boyfriend, and Wunmi Mosaku and Kaniehtiio Horn, who will take on the roles of Alice’s two friends.

Behind the camera, the film features a script by Alanna Francis. Meanwhile, Mary Nighy is set to serve as director on the project, which marks the helmer’s directorial debut.

In a statement speaking to the project, Nighy said: “Alice Darling is a subtle, nuanced story about coercion and control. As a director, I couldn’t wish for a better cast of talented actors and creatives to bring this important story to life. The chemistry between Anna Kendrick, Wunmi Mosaku, and Kaniehtiio Horn as the three friends is a joy to see.”

Alice Darling doesn’t yet have a release date, but the film is currently in production out in Canada.
