Lin-Manuel Miranda is returning to Hamilton sooner than you may’ve thought. The creator-turned-superstar has announced a 2019 Hamilton run in Puerto Rico, the island he descends from!

Hamilton is heading to the University of Puerto Rico’s Teatro UPR from January 8 – 27, 2019. The venue had suffered damage from Hurricane Maria in September.

“Bringing [Hamilton] to Puerto Rico is a dream that I’ve had since we first opened at The Public Theater in 2015,” Miranda said in a statement. “When I last visited the island, a few weeks before Hurricane Maria, I had made a commitment to not only bring the show to Puerto Rico, but also return again to the title role. In the aftermath of Maria, we decided to expedite the announcement of the project to send a bold message that Puerto Rico will recover and be back in business, stronger than ever.”

Hamilton’s presence in Puerto Rico — and Lin-Manuel Miranda being back in the role he created — will surely help give the island the attention that it needs following the devastation caused by the aforementioned hurricane.

Said producer Jeffrey Seller, “In the aftermath of Hurricane Maria, we hope Hamilton can play a positive role in bringing the artistic pulse of the community back to life. Arts and culture are pillars for economic development, cultural tourism, community empowerment and growth.”

Miranda wrapped his role as Hamilton in the summer of 2016 and has gone on to juggle several film projects including Mary Poppins Returns. He’s also working with Disney on the live-action Little Mermaid.

Although it would be hard for most of us to get down to Puerto Rico, there’s still a chance we’ll get to see Miranda in the role he created: The show was professionally filmed before he stopped performing in New York.
