Dwayne Johnson and Lin-Manuel Miranda recently collaborated on Moana, and decided to team up for Millennials: The Musical… because of course they did.

On the soundstage of Moana, a friendship was born. Like all good friendships, this one produced a musical.

Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, who created the music for the Disney musical, and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, who voices Maui, got together to produce Millennials: The Musical, which will premiere on The Rock’s YouTube channel.

To promote the project, Lin and The Rock decided to put together a mockumentary short starring themselves.

The video itself comes out on YouTube on November 29, but for now, watch this amazing “behind-the-scenes” clip:

Obviously the pitch came via the favorite communication outlet of hip Millennials: Twitter (Facebook is so 2010). We see clips from the rehearsal process, Lin and The Rock pick which emojis they would be, and generally wax lyrical about the process of producing a musical.

Unfortunately, it really doesn’t go so well, and leading up to opening night, Millennials: The Musical looks like it’ll be a total disaster.

And it truly looks like the musical itself will be as big of a mess as our generation in general (oh shush you know it’s true), but we’ll give it a participation trophy nonetheless!

Millennials: The Musical features Meg DeAngelis, Jon Hall, Jack Jordan Norman, Motoki Maxted, Titus Makin Jr., Vidya Vox, Amber Tiana, Jareb Dauplaise, Flula, Mo Darwiche and Nicole Derseweh.

The whole thing is directed by Scott Brown, who also wrote the musical with Troy Guthrie, Erin Lardy and Dylan Sachse.
