Lin-Manuel Miranda released the salsa remix of his song “Almost Like Praying,” his single that offers aid to the recovery efforts in Puerto Rico.
When Hurricane Maria tore through Puerto Rico in the fall of 2017, the island was left horrifically damaged by the natural disaster. It didn’t take long for people to step up to offer aid to Puerto Ricans working to rebuild their homes, but Lin-Manuel Miranda was definitely one who led the charge in providing aid.

In October of 2017, Miranda released a single he wrote called “Almost Like Praying” that featured superstars like Jennifer Lopez, Rita Moreno, Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, John Leguizamo, and more. 100% of the proceeds from the single went directly to helping rebuild Puerto Rico by supporting the Hispanic Federation’s “Unidos” Disaster Relief Fund.
And while national media attention has turned from Puerto Rico and aid from the US is ending, Puerto Rico is still in need of support as it works to rebuild after such a devastating natural disaster. Miranda hasn’t been so quick to move on, however. He’s been doing a lot of great work raising money for the Hispanic Federation on Twitter and through “Almost Like Praying” sales.
To spur on a new wave of support for Puerto Rico, Miranda just released a new salsa remix for the single, arranged by salsa legend Sergio George. And to be quite honest, it’s utterly amazing. Just as he did with the original “Almost Like Praying”, 100% of the sales from the Salsa Remix will go to the Unidos Disaster Relief Fund, and their focus on meeting both critical needs on the island and long-term rebuilding efforts.
