Pride and  Prejudice and Zombies was a surprise mash-up hit but getting the film going has not been so easy. Like any good zombie, however, the film seems to have risen again, this time with Lily Collins in talks to star.

According to Variety, Burr Steers is signed on to direct. His most recent work includes directing an episode of The New Normal and Charlie St. Cloud. Lily Collins was most recently seen in Stuck in Love, The English Teacher, and is the lead in the highly anticipated adaptation of The Mortal Instruments.

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies was written by Seth Grahame-Smith in 2009 and actually credits Jane Austen as co-author. The story follows Elizabeth Bennett and her four sisters, who live in an alternate universe of Regency Era England. Unlike typical Regency Era activities, the Bennett sisters learn weapons training and martial arts from Mr. Bennett, but never fear! Mrs. Bennett still schemes to get her daughters married off to wealthy husbands. Collins would play the Elizabeth Bennett character.

Darko Entertainment and Panorama Media are producing with Panorama funding. Initially the project was in development with David O. Russell eyed to direct, Natalie Portman starring and Lionsgate distributing. But the script took too long to develop, leading to Russell and Portman exiting.
