Speaking on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show this week to promote his new film Paranoia, Gale actor Liam Hemsworth revealed that author Suzanne Collins was very impressed with his performance.

When Seacrest, who clearly had no idea what he was talking about in relation to The Hunger Games plot line, asked if Gale and Katniss should get together, Hemsworth replied, “Suzanne Collins said to me once after the first movie, ‘I really wanted to have more of Gale in the movies. I love the character and I love what you’ve done with it.'”

Always looking for news that’ll get his young female listeners excited, Seacrest continued to push for Gale and Katniss comments. They didn’t go anywhere.

Elsewhere in the interview Hemsworth spoke about what’s to come for Gale in Catching Fire, out this November. “It’s developing more but it’s also very confusing. Gale is trying to work out what’s going on, and I think Katniss is trying to stay alive still [laughter]. You get to see a little bit more of the fight come out of Gale. Francis Lawrence directed this one and I think he’s such a great director, one of my favorite directors.”

You can listen to the interview below. Hemsworth discussing Catching Fire comes in around the 4 minutes, 45 second mark.

It remains to be seen whether or not Collins’ comments actually encouraged filmmakers to get more of Gale into the sequel. Maybe with a two-part Mockingjay film, the opportunity is there for Gale to get all the time he needs
