Though the Looking For Alaska movie has seemingly fallen apart, the book to film adaptation of John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle’s short story collection Let It Snow is moving along.

Update (December 14, 2018): This long-gestating project has had its distribution rights picked up by Netflix, suggesting that it’s going to have a major release. According to Deadline, the film will begin shooting in 2019.

Original story (March 24, 2016): Let It Snow will be directed by Luke Snellin, whose directing credits only include small projects including TV shows called Fried, Banana, and The Job Lot. He also directed two episodes of the Channel 4 hit My Mad Fat Diary.

The movie has a script by Kay Cannon (writer of Pitch Perfect), though Paper Towns and The Fault in Our Stars screenwriters Scott Neustadter and Michael Weber have been tasked with touching it up.

Let It Snow is aiming to hit theaters this December. You probably wouldn’t have expected to see it before Looking For Alaska, but there’ve been serious pre-production issues happening with that one.

The studios between the films also differ: Let It Snow is at Universal while Alaska is at Paramount. Paper Towns and Fault were at Fox.
