Leslie Odom Jr. is officially heading to the small screen.

According to Variety, Hamilton star Leslie Odom Jr. has joined the cast of a new comedy pilot being produced by Scandal star Kerry Washington.

The multi-camera comedy series, which is currently without a title, has been given a put pilot commitment at ABC.

Inspired by real-life pastors Toure Roberts and Sarah Jakes-Roberts, the series centers on two joint pastors named Leslie (played by Odom Jr.) and Hope who work at a young, hip, diverse church located in Los Angeles.

Leslie and Hope may have a knack for bringing individuals of all different backgrounds together through their services, online streams, and their books, but it’s not a trait that transfers over to their personal lives.

In fact, Leslie and Hope struggle at home when it comes to unifying their blended family into one cohesive unit.

As the synopsis reads, the pair often find that they are “way out of their comfort zone and as a result, the teachers often find themselves the pupils.”

The Tony Award winning actor will serve as an executive producer on the project alongside Washington, Pilar Savone, and Saladin Patterson. Patterson will also serve as writer on the series.

In a statement announcing his involvement on the new pilot, Odom Jr. spoke of how thrilled he is to work on the upcoming comedy — especially given his own experiences attending Toure’s church in Los Angeles.

“Kerry Washington is one of the most formidable artists of my generation. We’ve been searching for the better part of two years to find an idea about which we both felt passionate enough to dedicate ourselves,” said Odom Jr. “I’ve gone to Toure’s church for over 15 years. He is a unique contemporary, and very necessary voice. We are thrilled that ABC is allowing us the opportunity to bring Toure and Sarah’s modern views to an even wider audience in what will be a joyful and hopeful 30-minutes every week.”

There’s no word yet on when we might see the pilot air on ABC.
