Apple trailers released another look at the upcoming film adaptation of Les Misérables featuring Samatha Barks’ rendition of the world famous song “On My Own.”

The preview gives us a first look at how stunning Barks’ singing and acting capabilities are. She has been mentioned in a lot of reviews as the film’s biggest surprise, even more so than Anne Hathaway’s Oscar worthy performance, and it shows. This 2 minute preview has gotten me weeping already, as her performance is truly breathtaking.

Les Misérables will be released Christmas Day in the US and January 11th in the UK. The film’s soundtrack, featuring 20 songs including “On My Own,” is already available for a limited-time price of $5 on Amazon.

The digital soundtrack only went on sale on Thursday and normally is priced at $15.99 through iTunes and Amazon. It is a “highlights” compilation featuring 20 tracks, so diehards may notice a few of their favorite areas of the musical missing. Nonetheless, there are many standouts to be heard including “I Dreamed A Dream,” “The Confrontation,” “Master of the House,” “One Day More,” and “Javert’s Suicide.”

A Hypable reader reviewed the soundtrack for us – read their well-educated thoughts here. It is unknown at this time if Universal plans to release additional songs from the musical, but if/when they do we’ll be sure to let you know.

Do you think Barks may be one of the stand-out actresses in the film?
