For weeks rumors had pegged the Les Miserables movie cast to perform a couple of their songs at Sunday night’s Academy Awards.

The rumors true, and the performance slayed.

Les Miserables‘ 3-minute medley began with the film’s original song “Suddenly,” then transitioned into a mash up of “One Day More” and “I Dreamed A Dream” led by Best Supporting Actress Anne Hathaway. The entire lead cast was there: Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe, Eddie Redmayne, Aaron Tveit, Samantha Barks, Sacha Baron Cohen, and Helena Bonham Carter were all singing live. The Les Miserables DVD/Blu-ray are on the way. It’ll debut next month with a boat load of special features including commentary from director Tom Hooper. Also arriving next month is the extended version of the Les Miserables soundtrack, featuring fourty-two tracks compared to the Highlights album’s twenty-two.

It was a big night for music at the Academy Awards. Performances include Adele with “Skyfall” and Barbra Streisand with “The Way We Were.” On the award front, took home the Best Original Song award in what was a no-contest, to be sure, for “Skyfall” from Skyfall, while Mychael Danna won for Best Original Score for Life of Pi.
