In the second behind-the scenes trailer for Lego: The Lord of the Rings, the developers at TT Games discuss the scope of the game, the characters you can expect to play as, and also give us a first look at in-game Lego ents.

The trailer, titled “The Fellowship Rises,” follows last week’s behind-the-scenes look at adapting Peter Jackson’s film trilogy into video game form.

This week’s developer diary (thanks, IGN!) highlights how Tolkien’s epic trilogy retains its darker moments whilst ensuring a continuation of the trademark charm of the Lego video game franchise. Within the trailer are sneak peeks of Rivendell, Shelob’s Lair and the heart of Mount Doom itself. Also confirmed within the trailer is the total number of playable characters in Lego: The Lord of the Rings upon release: 84.

Lego: The Lord of the Rings covers The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King, and will include characters that featured in the books but not the movies.

Previous gameplay trailers were released at E3 in June and Gamescom in August.

Lego: The Lord of the Rings will launch on PC, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Nintendo’s Wii and 3DS on October 30.

Are you still excited for the latest Lego game? There’s only a few weeks left until you can enter Middle Earth in Lego form for the first time. Which character are you looking forward to playing the most?
