The Legends of Tomorrow season 5 trailer gives us everything we love about the show: fantastic action, wild shenanigans and sheer absurdity.

Get ready for more Legends of Tomorrow at its Legends of Tomorrow-est.

We get to see the dramatic turn of Brandon Routh as Superman in the upcoming “Crisis on Infinite Earths” crossover, before the trailer transitions back to the run-of-the-mill weird and wild shenanigans that makes the show so much damn fun.

In addition to all the fun antics, this new season will be the last for Routh, who was one of the show’s first series regulars. Routh will be leaving the series after the fifth season together with his wife Courtney Ford, who plays the role of Nora Darhk.

Check out the official Legends of Tomorrow season 5 trailer below, followed by the official synopsis of the season!

The Legends continue their new mission to protect the timeline from temporal aberrations – unusual changes to history that spawn potentially catastrophic consequences. When Nate, the grandson of J.S.A. member Commander Steel, unexpectedly finds himself with powers, he must overcome his own insecurities and find the hero within himself. Ultimately, the Legends will clash with foes both past and present, to save the world from a mysterious new threat.

Legends of Tomorrow was created by Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Phil Klemmer, and Andrew Kreisberg, with the cast that initially featured Victor Garber (Martin Stein/Firestorm), Caity Lotz (Sara Lance/White Canary), Ciara Renée (Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl), Falk Hentschel (Carter Hall/Hawkman), and Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter). Most of that cast has since left the show, though Lotz remains at a focal point.

For season 5, the cast includes Brandon Routh as Ray Palmer/The ATOM, Caity Lotz as Sara Lance/White Canary, Dominic Purcell as Mick Rory/Heat Wave, Nick Zano as Dr. Nate Heywood/Steel, Jes Macallan as Ava Sharpe, Courtney Ford as Nora Darhk, Matt Ryan as John Constantine, Ramona Young as Mona Yu, Tala Ashe as Zari Tomaz, and Olivia Swann as Astra Logue.

Legends of Tomorrow will return on January 14 with the finale of the Crisis on Infinite Earths five-part crossover. Its fifth season officially begins the following week.
