Legends of Tomorrow season 3 has added Tala Ashe as a Muslim-American hacktivist from the future.

Ashe will play Zari Adrianna Tomaz, and she will be a series regular on The Waverider, reports TVLine. Zari, a Muslim-American, is described as a computer nerd with a wry, combative attitude. She is from the year 2030.

According to the character description, she “lives in a world of contradictions. Technology has brought about incredible change in her future — too bad human nature hasn’t kept pace. Fear, prejudice, and a lack of care for the planet have forced Zari to become a ‘grey hat hacktivist.’”

More than that, however, Zari is unaware that she has secret, latent powers that come from an ancient, mystical source.

In the DC Comics, Adrianna Tomaz was an Egyptian slave given to Black Adam, the ruler of the fictional nation of Kahndaq. The two fell in love, and Black Adam gave her the magical Amulet of Isis, which imbued her with the powers of that goddess. Her influence changed the way Black Adam viewed the world.

Ashe’s credits include Smash, As the World Turns and American Odyssey.

Legends of Tomorrow season 3 will air Tuesdays at 9:00 p.m. ET on The CW this fall.
