If Legends of Tomorrow is renewed for a fourth season, Matt Ryan will reprise his role as John Constantine as a series regular.

Ryan first started playing Constantine on the NBC series of the same name, but the series was cancelled after one season.

Since then, The CW has slowly brought the character into its Arrowverse fold, first with an appearance in Arrow‘s fourth season when he showed up to help recover Sara Lance’s soul.

He then appeared at the end of the Legends of Tomorrow mid-season 3 finale, before featuring heavily in the mid-season premiere. He is slated to make several more appearances as season 3 wraps up. He also voices the character in the animated series that airs on the CW Seed.

Considering how smoothly Ryan’s Constantine fit into the dynamics of the Waverider — and that there have been a couple of departures this season in Victor Garber and Franz Drameh — it makes perfect sense that he would join the series on a full-time basis, per The Hollywood Reporter.

Though Ryan’s promotion to series regular is dependent on Legends of Tomorrow being renewed for season 4, it is expected that the renewal will happen, especially since the network is expanding its programming to Sunday nights next season.
