We previously reported that Legends of Tomorrow would introduce Hawkman. Now we’re hearing a bit more about that character.

Hawkman’s presence in the upcoming Arrow/The Flash spinoff was first announced at Comic-Con. But he will appear on Arrow and The Flash first. This makes sense, as another thing we learned at Comic-Con was that the first batch of episodes this season of Arrow and The Flash would serve to set up Legends of Tomorrow, doing things like “resurrecting” Ray Palmer and dipping Sara Lance in the Lazarus Pit.

We’re also hearing what form Hawkman will take on television. He will be Carter Hall, who is described as “charismatic,” “wise beyond his years,” and “a natural-born leader with an abundance of charm and confidence.” Oh, and he’s 5,000 years old.

Like Hawkgirl, he is reincarnated each time he dies, though unlike Hawkgirl, he keeps his memories with each rebirth.

This will undoubtedly cause conflict between him and Kendra Saunders, our incarnation of Hawkgirl for Legends.

In the DC comics, Carter Hall is initially introduced as an archeologist who discovers he is the reincarnation of an ancient Egyptian prince named Khufu. Khufu and his partner, Shiera, were murdered by Hath-Set, a priest. Khufu swore he would return for vengeance. Carter and the reincarnation of Shiera would go on to fight crime using the anti-gravitational properties of the alien Nth metal.

(Oh, and Hath-Set is also repeatedly reincarnated alongside Khufu and Shiera and kills them in numerous incarnations through time. Might we see him at some point as well?)

We still have no casting announcement, though one is likely to be coming soon if Hawkman is going to appear in early episodes of Arrow and The Flash. Kendra Saunders had a cameo in The Flash‘s season 1 finale.

The Flash season 2 premieres Tuesday, October 6 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.

Arrow season 4 premieres Wednesday, October 7 at 8:00 p.m. ET on The CW.
