Ahead of The CW’s upfront presentation, the role Caity Lotz will play in Legends of Tomorrow, the series’ best kept secret, has been revealed.

Update: Check out the very fun first trailer for Legends of Tomorrow below featuring all of the new characters!

When it was announced that Caity Lotz would be appearing in the upcoming Arrow/Flash spinoff, there was a lot of speculation about who she would play, as her character Sara Lance was murdered in the Arrow season 3 premiere. Some suggested she would be revived while others thought she might play another character all together. And now we know.

Lotz will indeed be reprising her role as Sara Lance, but with a twist. She’ll no longer be wearing the black of the Canary. Rather, she’ll don white as the White Canary.

“There’s going to be some differences,” Lotz previews. “There’s going to be some repercussions [from] whatever happened and it’s definitely going to make a difference in how she is. I’m really looking forward to it. The stuff they were telling me about it and where they’re going to go with the character is exciting.”

This sounds like Sara may be revived via the Lazarus Pit, as we’ve heard the warnings about the consequences of magical resurrection in Arrow. By the Arrow season 3 finale, Sara had been dead and buried for months, so if she is indeed revived in that way, some sort of madness seems likely.

However, the Lazarus Pit isn’t the only option for Sara appearing in Legends of Tomorrow. The central conceit of the series will deal with a time traveler, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill), “assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself.”

With that description, there has also been some speculation that Sara may be saved prior to her death by Rip Hunter via time travel, though that wouldn’t explain why she becomes the White Canary rather than remaining the Canary. (Her sister, Laurel, has taken on the guise of the Black Canary since Sara’s death.)

In the DC Comics, White Canary is a Birds of Prey villain.

Whatever the case of Sara’s return, Legends of Tomorrow will be a 2015-16 mid-season series on The CW.
