While The Legend of Korra season 2 had some rough patches, there were still many wonderful moments of animation to be seen.

As ReWatchable wraps up their The Legend of Korra season 2 recaps, we thought we’d look back on some of our favorite moments of the rocky second season. Did we miss one of your favorite arcs? Let us know your favorite GIF set, and (if you’re a newbie) what you’re looking most forward to in The Legend of Korra season 3!

Ginger’s uber fabulous introduction

Ginger’s entrance may not beat this one, but she sure does know how to command the attention of everyone in the room. If only we could be flanked by a background of roses and stars when we entered a room…

Korra on the chase after Unalaq’s kidnappers

(source)(source)

Korra running after Unalaq’s attackers was one of the most beautifully choreographed fight sequences of the season. She demonstrated a certain agility and swiftness we weren’t used to seeing before from our Avatar.

Mako bending to stop fire from spreading at the peace rally

Mako showed bravery in the face of an extreme and immediate threat when he used his firebending to clear the path and get to the terrorists who set off a bomb. Also, the motions he used when he did so were so on-point, Cirque Du Soleil would be jealous.

Eska’s obsession over her feeble turtle duck

It’s obvious that Eska lacks similar social skills to Korra, likely from an isolation this ice princess faced growing up under the horrible Unalaq. One of the most memorable moments from The Legend of Korra season 2 is hands down her chasing after the Krew as they take Bolin away from his crazed fiance.

Korra connecting to her past lives

Let’s face it. The first half of The Legend of Korra season 2 was rough. It took up until the “Beginning” episodes for Korra to finally get her act together and do what needed to be done to stop Unalaq. It was important she got amnesia because, honestly, we can’t be sure we’d like her character too much if she kept on the track she was on before meeting Wan.

Wan’s origin story

As it turns out, Bryke was developing Wan’s story as early as season 2 of Avatar: The Last Airbender. When we finally get the first Avatar’s origin story, it comes at just the right point in the season to liven things up. Not only is the animation in these two episodes stellar, but hearing the voice of The Walking Dead‘s Steven Yeun as Wan is an absolute treat.

Jinora steps into the limelight as Korra’s spirit world guide

Jinora acting as Korra’s spirit guide into the spirit world gave us some of the most iconic moments of The Legend of Korra season 2. We simply can’t get enough of the wonderful animation, colors, and action of the spirit world.

Uncle Iroh returns

The wisdom this character departs to the main characters of both shows is always chilling and out of this world. Needless to say, when he showed up again during Korra’s moment of need in the spirit world, we squeed.

Mako and Bolin entering the spirit world

When we first saw this moment in the season 2 trailer, we knew some serious stuff was about to go down. Say what you will about the Fireferret brothers, but they’re always willing to lay their lives on the line for the Avatar.
