The Legend of Korra season 2, episode 11 “Night of a Thousand Stars”

The episode opens up as Tenzin and co. arrive back home, baring the bad news about Jinora. Tenzin feels guilty, while Korra apologizes to Pema.

Back at Republic City in Mako’s cell, Bolin comes to give Mako a Nuk-Tuk poster. The finale of the mover is about to premiere.

Bolin assures Mako that he’ll always be there for him, while also telling his older brother that he looks like a criminal. Mako explains that he was set up by Varrick, which Bolin brushes off.

Mako asks to see Asami, but Bolin says that she won’t come because it would remind her of her dad. Before Bolin leaves, Mako has Bolin promise that he’ll keep his eyes peeled at the premiere for anything evil Varrick may unravel.

Watching over the Southern Water Tribe, Tonraq leads soldiers off a cliffside to take back their city.

At the movie premiere’s red carpet, Bolin and Ginger arrive to a cheering crowd. Bolin tries again to hit on Ginger, who tells him that he’s “as dumb as the rocks he bends.”

Lin finds two of her employees fooling around, as opposed to staying at their posts. President Raiko, the first lady, and Varrick then arrive. Varrick schmoozes with the President, but Raiko tells him that this mover won’t change his mind about going to war with the Northern Water Tribe.

At the probending arena, Varrick speaks on stage of the way he produced the mover, against all odds. Varrick speech turns more serious, as he tells of the evils of the Northern Water Tribe.

The movie begins as Nuk-Tuk escapes from a bird, and gets advice from a sage seal. Nuk-Tuk meets with the President and asks for his help to stop Unalaq. In the crowd, Asami tells Bolin that this is the best mover of Bolin’s.

Meanwhile, Waterbenders arrive at the back entrance of the arena. Lin’s guards are too busy eating their sweets to notice that they are about to be attacked by the Waterbenders. Lin’s guards are stuffed into a closet, giving the Waterbenders access to the event.

The mover continues as mecha tanks attack a chained up Nuk-Tuk. Pabu and Naga’s characters come to Nuk-Tuk’s rescue, who’s able to defeat the mechas. Pabu’s character Jugi passes away.

Bolin walks out of his seat to a balcony, and is joined by Asami. He tells her that he’s upset because he misses his friends. “Team Avatar’s fallen apart.”

Asami tells him to come back inside, but he refuses and stays outside. He notices the Waterbenders’ canoe, and goes in the hallway where Lin’s guards were attacked to investigate. Bolin finds out from the guards that the Waterbenders are after the President.

While the mover plays Unalaq’s takeover, the President and first lady are taken hostage. Bolin saves the day when he Earthbends the Waterbenders down into the arena.

Bolin turns into a real-world hero, ripping off his sleeves and fighting the waterbenders on the probending stage. Lin tells her guards to secure the president and to get backup.

Bolin’s actions mirror Nuk-Tuk’s on screen. The probending announcer makes a fun cameo.

With one final epic slam of a disc, Bolin finds out from the last Waterbender that Varrick was the one that orchestrated the attack. Lin captures Varrick before he can escape.

On the streets of the Southern Water Tribe, Tonraq’s crew fights back the Northern Water Tribe, as dark spirits loom.

After the mover, Lin oversees the arrest of Varrick, and speaks to the President about how Mako saw what was going to happen all this time.

Ginger kisses Bolin in front of the camera and calls him her boyfriend. Asami congratulates Bolin on saving the President, and prods him to go tell Mako the good news.

Korra arrives at the scene via Air Bison with Tenzin, and cuts to the chase with the President: “Unalaq wants to destroy the entire world.”

Korra tells the crowd about the Harmonic Convergence plot, but is denied help from the President. Tenzin shouts that lives are on the line, which doesn’t do anything to convince the President to join the fight. Asami and Bolin join Korra’s side.

In Mako’s cell, Bolin fills Mako in on what happened, and apologizes for doubting his brother. As the two leave the jail, Lin congratulates Mako and gives him the job of detective.

Korra kisses Mako as she greets him, horrifying Asami. Korra’s memory about the fight that she had with Mako before she left hasn’t come back. The faces Mako makes in this scene are priceless. Asami broods horrifically in the background.

The gang travels to Varrick’s cell, who is still living in luxury. Varrick talks about the good things he did for Team Avatar, but Asami shuts him down.

Bolin demands to know where the stuff he stole from Asami is. Varrick replies that it’s on his warship, named after his assistant, Ju-lee. Varrick offers his ship to the group in condolence.

At sea, Korra and Mako have a Titanic moment at the hull of the ship.

The dark spirits, Desna, and Eska fight back against Tonraq. Spotting his brother, Tonraq fights through the Northern Tribe members to get to his brother. The two brothers face off, with the twins being told to stay out of the battle.

Tonraq takes a few hard hits from Unalaq before getting some in himself. With one slow-motion punch ready to hit, Tonraq’s attack is blocked.

Unalaq first freezes his brother, then breaks the ice, leaving Tonraq very broken. Unalaq tells Tonraq that Korra is next.

The Legend of Korra season 2, episode 12 “Harmonic Convergence”

The second episode opens as Kya Waterbend-heals Jinora’s body in a tub of water. Korra Waterbends dummies on the ship’s deck as Bumi plays a flute.

Mako and Bolin talk about the fun items Bolin is wearing that he found on Varrick’s ship. Bolin asks Mako if he’s told Korra the truth about what happened between Mako and Asami yet.

Tenzin and Korra egg each other on as they discuss the ways they’ll get their revenge. Mako awkwardly avoids telling Korra what he needs to.

Tenzin speaks of his plan to meet up with Tonraq’s troops, and then go inside the Southern spirit portal. Tenzin’s siblings tell him that this doesn’t seem like a good plan, and that they need to have more strategy to win against such dangerous adversaries.

Asmai arrives and tells the group that she’s picked up a distress signal from the Southern troops.

The Avatar group flies in and greets Korra’s mom. Korra’s mom talks of how the Southern Resistance was mowed down.

Katara, healing the wounded, learns of how Jinora’s been in mediation for over a week. As Katara heals Jinora, she tells the group that Jinora is strong to have survived this long.

Outside, Korra and co. talk about how the Southern spirit portal is being guarded, while the Harmonic Convergence is coming in a few hours. Bumi gives the group an idea of how to attack from above to gain an advantage. Asami irons out the details, and the group leaves to start the fight.

Desna and Eska meet with their father, asking him why they’re still in the Southern Water Tribe. Unalaq tells them that everything he’s done so far will pale in comparison to what he’s about to do. He talks of erasing all of the tribes, and tells the twins to continue to guard the portal.

In the air, Asami pilots a plane with Bolin and Mako in tow. The rest of the group is on the air bison. Mako assures his brother that there’s no way Unalaq’s troops could’ve been expected this. Mako is proved wrong when the troops aim to attack the air fleet.

Ice shards are sent to hit the flying Avatar crew, as Asami dodges them just in time. Mako’s fireballs do a good amount of damage, and Bolin Earthbends bombs at mecha tanks.

Korra and Tenzin note that there are dark spirits everywhere. Kya waterbends them away as the air bison Ugi is weighed down. Bumi falls off the bison, attached to a dark spirit.

Ice shards begin to hit the airplane, but Mako’s Firebending proves its power against the ice. Bolin sends some big bombs down at the ground, angering the twins. The tail end of Asmai’s plane is struck by the twins’ Waterbending, crashing the airplane.

Ugi falls to the ground from the weight of the dark spirits, and the group passes out.

Korra wakes up to see her father tied up against a pole. Tonraq apologizes to Korra, but she assures him that they still have a chance. The twins and Unalaq taunt Team Avatar about his plans to release Vaatu. Unalaq states that Wan wasn’t as heroic as he sounded.

Korra says that she’ll simply put Vaatu back in prison, but Unalaq tells the Avatar that he plans to meld with Vaatu to become a Dark Avatar. Tonraq tries to reason with his brother, but Unalaq is blind with power. Unalaq leaves the group, and tells the twins to watch over Team Avatar.

Tenzin laments that they’ve failed, but Kya points out that they didn’t capture Bumi yet.

Bumi crawls out of the snow, and faces off against a dark spirit. The spirit doesn’t react to Bumi’s punches, up until a nasty uppercut.

Bumi tosses a knife at the spirit, but calms it down by playing his flute to it (Fluffy from Harry Potter, anyone?). Naga and Pabu join Bumi and his new spirit friend.

Korra attempts to reason with her cousins, but they tell her that they’ll never turn on their father. Korra pleads, telling them that no one will be safe once Unalaq fuses with Vaatu. The twins tell Korra that they’ll believe in their father no matter what.

Bumi attacks a guard and puts on his uniform. Bumi walks along the crowd, and begins to play his flute, creating what he thinks is a spirit army. Instead, the spirits chase after Bumi. Trapped, Bumi enters a mecha tank, but the spirits cause chaos when they enter into it.

The mecha tank wreaks havoc on the Northern Water Tribe’s camp, crushing their tents and supplies. Bumi is ejected from the suit, and arrives to rescue Team Avatar. Naga knocks out the twins.

Team Avatar move toward the spirit portal, which is swarming with dark spirits.

Korra tells Asami to take Tonraq back to Korra’s mom on Ugi. Korra then tells Tenzin to find Jinora, and Mako and Bolin to follow her to stop Unalaq’s plans.

Korra, Bolin, Mako, Bumi, Tenzin, and Kya enter the portal, and arrive at Vaatu’s tree prison. Unalaq attacks the group with spirits, but Korra powerfully bends them away. Korra shouts at Tenzin to take his siblings to search for Jinora.

Mako and Bolin distract Unalaq as Korra tries to close the portal. Unalaq eventually disables the brothers. Vaatu taunts Raava as the harmonic convergence nears.

The two spirit portals merge into one. The world is shown from a space view as a purple energy envelopes everything. The real world has been turned into the spirit world.

Back at Vaatu’s prison, the tree is smashed, and Vaatu escapes, laughing manically at Team Avatar.
