WOW. That’s just about all I have to say. Legacies season 2, episode 10 just made some crazy choices and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

Things are definitely heating up thanks to the events of Legacies season 2, episode 10. We learned a WHOLE LOT about Alyssa Chang, and learned exactly what Alaric did to Sebastian at the end of last week’s episode. I definitely didn’t see THAT coming.

This episode also featured the return of Emma! It just hasn’t been the same without her. I am glad to have her back, and I hope this isn’t the last we see of her this season. Anyway, read on for all my random thoughts about Legacies season 2, episode 10, “This Is Why We Don’t Entrust Plans to Muppet Babies.”

Oh, and if you need a prophecy refresher, we’ve got you covered.

So, Alyssa Chang…

Last week, she kind of came off as an opportunist, but not over-the-top mean like this week, especially since she was showing loyalty to M.G. She is one VERY powerful witch, and when you pair that with the twisted way she has chosen to view her circumstances, she’s got a dark streak to rival Katherine.

And I don’t just mean while she was under the influence of the Qareen (more on that later), either. They were all kinds of awful people while the monster was running amok, but this move was cold and calculated. She clearly has been pretending not to remember the memories that Emma took from her as a child, biding her time and waiting for the opportune moment to strike at the Saltzmans.

And while I’m sure there are some that will justify her actions because of Alaric’s choices and whatnot, I don’t think its anywhere near fair for her to loop Lizzie and Josie in on the punishment. I think I will especially feel this if she was at all aware of what kind of threat Kai is to all of them. If she knew that and sent them there anyway, then she’s truly cruel.

I wish we knew exactly what happened in Alyssa Chang’s past. Our first glimpse of her in this episode is one fateful night of her childhood in which she is sitting in front of a burned down house. No explanations. It’s clear that Alaric thinks she burned it down, and maybe she did, but there are a lot of other explanations for that fire, too.

EMMA IS BACK!!

Emma Tig has made her return to the Salvatore School. I think it’s only temporary, but it’s nice to see her, and I hope she sticks around for at least a couple of episodes. I love having Karen David around to keep Alaric honest, and to question his decisions when they need to be questioned.

Honestly, I think what Emma and Alaric did to Sebastian was kinda genius. Mean? Sure. Cruel? Maybe, but it’s also pretty genius. It gets Sebastian away from the students and also is a semi-humane way to put him out of commission.

‘She’s not like the others.’

I am intrigued to learn about the students that Emma and Alaric sent to prison worlds before they considered sending Alyssa Chang away. They clearly referenced doing “that again” a couple of times. Where are those kids now? Have they just been hanging with Kai in the prison world all this time? Or are they in their own special prison world? Don’t any of them have families?

We will just have to see if they show up next week.

Coven Day in ‘Legacies’ season 2, episode 10

… was basically a total disaster. Emma wanted the witches to learn all about their differences and similarities based on the covens they belong to, but since the Qareen was hanging around, all we got were some snappy, hurtful barbs being thrown around.

I don’t know if we’ll experience another Coven Day, but if it means another episode in which Wade gets to shine front and center, you can consider me on board.

I believe in Wade

He hasn’t been treated the kindest on Legacies, and that trend continued in Legacies season 2, episode 10, but I hope he is shown a new level of respect after his fairy prowess was on full display in this episode.

I am definitely, firmly on Team Wade, no matter what comes next for him. And I’m glad that he connected to his true supernatural heritage. I hope he gets more answers and learns more about what it means to be a fairy.

And what does this mean for the factions going forward? Is Alaric (or whomever ends up in charge of this school) going to go looking for teenage fairies so Wade isn’t the only of his kind? What other humanoid supernatural creatures are out there? We had no idea that phoenixes and fairies were a thing in this world, so it’s entirely possible that there are a myriad of other magical races waiting to be remembered.

The Qareen Effect

So, yeah. Basically, everyone was a super bitch for this whole episode. Alyssa Chang dialed her nasty up to 13, and it sort of trickled down from there, affecting Hope, Lizzie, all the other witches, then the wolves and the vamps, and finally Landon.

Pretty much everyone decided to poke at everyone else’s weak spots. Landon is just trying to fit in now that Hope is back and Vardemus has been exposed, so Lizzie picks at his ability to do just that. Add in all the issues Lizzie has had recently, and all of Hope’s insecurities, and you basically have a recipe for disaster.

While this monster was cool looking and effective in his goals, he definitely won’t go down as one of my faves. His discord-instigating was just a little much for me.

Alaric’s secrets

Throughout Legacies season 2, episode 10, Alaric references his secrets. He and Emma have some deep, dark secrets about things they did to problem children back at the beginning of the school, plus he is keeping his entire supernatural job a secret from the sheriff.

By the end of the episode, it seemed that the secret he and Emma were keeping was that he sent truly problematic young supernaturals to prison worlds. I don’t know if this was one group of troublemakers, or a sprinkling of hard-to-control personalities over the years, or what, but this definitely gets added to the blood fountain list of things Alaric has done with good intentions, but would be considered villainous by just about anyone else.

I love Alaric, don’t get me wrong, but if his mission was literally to protect his kids from the world and prepare them for what’s out there, he has failed. If he couldn’t find ways to help even the most powerful and disruptive students, then he probably shouldn’t be the head of this mission anymore. Also, does Caroline know about all of this?!

Mora Miserium problems

Okay, so at the end of last episode, we saw that Hope and Josie’s attempts to use a containment spell to buy them time to deal with the sand clock didn’t really work. Clearly this thing is going to create some truly awful problems, right?

Little did we know. So, Lizzie and Josie give it all they’ve got, utilizing a myriad of spells to try to freeze, transform, and basically neutralize the dark magic in that hourglass. And none of it works. So, plan B is to find a place where the magic will be trapped. Alaric suggests the bottom of the ocean (which gave this girl some Originals-still-on-TVD nostalgia), but Lizzie has a better idea: a prison world.

They need a place where magic can’t escape, and that seems like the only truly effective option.

Except the solution just creates a new problem. Thanks to a bitter and revenge-seeking Alyssa Chang, Josie, Lizzie, and Alaric find themselves whisked away to the same prison world they sent the Mora Miserium to. Not only has Josie not escaped the possibility that she could be overtaken by evil villain energy, but now she’s literally trapped in a cell with it.

Random possible theory: Josie burns down the Salvatore School in the prison world? I would be okay with that as long as no harm comes to the real school in present day.

How many prison worlds has Alaric made, exactly?

Hopefully Legacies season 2, episode 10’s biggest mystery will be solved next week. Exactly how many evil teenagers has Alaric had Emma send away? Are they all in Kai’s prison world? Are they all witches (except for Sebastian, of course)?

Next week’s episode is sure to be a doozy, and then it will be time for Kai. I’m really not sure I’m ready for all this.

What did you think of ‘Legacies’ season 2, episode 10?
