It’s almost time for Legacies 2×02, “This Year Will Be Different,” and, thankfully, we have more screener teases for you!

I’m not gonna lie, after this episode, I am fully on board for all the things going on in Legacies season 2. There are some GREAT storylines playing out, and I can’t wait to see what the writers have in store for us as things continue moving forward.

With all that said, let’s dive into a few teases to get you even more pumped for Legacies season 2, episode 2, okay? The episode doesn’t air until Thursday, October 17, but you can enjoy some teases now!

Even more aftermath of Alaric getting voted out

I’m honestly really glad that this storyline isn’t just going to die a quiet death in season 2, episode 2. At least twice in this episode, we learn just a little bit more about how everyone was feeling after Alaric’s confessions in the Legacies season 1 finale. That is definitely going to continue to play a part in why Vardemus is there and how people feel about both their former and current headmasters, and I am HERE FOR IT.

‘Legacies’ 2×02 is perfectly balanced

Sometimes Legacies has a tendency to lean too hard on either drama or comedy, but this episode has the perfect balance of both. I’m cautiously going to say this might be my favorite episode yet, just because the storylines are skillfully blended and the balance between laughs and tears is as perfect as this show has ever been.

So be ready to both laugh and cry during Legacies 2×02, but you’ll love every second, I promise.

Oh, and I’m definitely going to be keeping an eye on which episodes Thomas Brandon writes because this one was a truly wonderful accomplishment after a solid season 2 premiere. And he was involved in some really great scripts last season, too.

#KeepAlaricsBeardAlive is totally a thing

I wonder if Matt Davis likes him some facial hair because after the #KeepAlaricsBeardAlive that appeared on Twitter during last week’s premiere, and a certain comment in Legacies 2×02, I think our leading man is hoping he’s allowed to keep the beard for a while. It sort of feels a little bit like a breakup beard, and since he’s definitely still mourning his loss, I guess it kinda is.

Maybe it’s like a rally beard. He’s not gonna shave ’til he wins the World Series, aka gets back to his rightful place as headmaster of the Salvatore School.

Are you ready for some new characters?

We meet not one, two, or three new characters in this episode, but FOUR! We already knew that Professor Vardemus and the mysterious Sebastian were going to make their series debuts this week, but we also got our first glimpse of both Maya and Ethan, also known as the siblings who both develop a little crush on our beloved, forgotten tribrid.

First impressions for each character in one word (or phrase): Vardemus — formidable, Sebastian — mysterious, Maya — kind-hearted, Ethan — a damn good sport. I can’t wait to hear what everyone else feels about all the new kids on the block.

Oh, and since I’ve heard some comparisons being made with Thomas Doherty’s Sebastian and Ian Somerhalder’s Damon, I have to say, Sebastian’s aesthetic is certainly different, but harnesses that magical, mysterious curiosity that always made Damon such an infectious character. I can’t wait to see what they have in store for this character this season.

Vardemus is totally the anti-Alaric

Yeah, I’m so not sure about this guy. Alexis Denisof is great in the role, don’t get me wrong, but this Vardemus guy is going to make a royal mess, I can just feel it.

He’s absolutely got a very different way of looking at supernatural/human relations, and I’m gonna be holding my breath until he proves he’s not a Death Eater-esque baddie. This is Legacies, not the real world, so I’m holding fast to my guilty-until-proven-innocent instincts when it comes to the new headmaster.

The Saltzman twins find their own ways

Lizzie is back at the Salvatore School, along with all the students, but she and Josie are supporting each other in their new individualities. Josie is busy settling back into school-year routines and her new dynamic with Landon, while Lizzie is setting her sights on trying all the new things. She’s opening herself up to possibilities and saying yes to things she definitely would have mocked in season 1.

All in all, Legacies 2×02 is the perfect progression for the new season. It’s fresh and fun and starts to move storylines forward that we are all excited to see come to fruition. Oh, and I may not have mentioned M.G. or Kaleb, but I really like how things are playing out there as well. Their friendship is wonderful and has a long road ahead of it, so I will always be happy to watch them bond.

Legacies season 2, episode 2, “This Year Will Be Different,” airs this Thursday at 9 p.m. Eastern on the CW.
