If you’ve seen Legacies 1×13, “The Boy Who Still Has a Lot of Good to Do” then you are probably looking for a few answers about that Legend of the Phoenix surprise. Read on for all the info we could find.

IF YOU CONTINUE READING YOU WILL BE SPOILED FOR ‘LEGACIES’ 1X13! TURN BACK NOW IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE EPISODE YET!

Okay, so now that we’ve gotten the warning out of the way…

How about that ending, huh? If you’ve watched The Vampire Diaries or The Originals, you were probably chanting, “He can’t possibly be dead for good. He can’t possibly be dead for good,” or something like that. I sure as hell was.

It’s one of the perks of supernatural shows. Death doesn’t always mean goodbye. And after watching the end of that episode (probably through tears and blurry vision if you have a shred of human dignity in your heart), we know that Legacies has brought another new creature to its world, and this time, it’s not a monster.

Have you recovered, yet? It’s okay. From the moment we heard Alaric mutter the words “legend of the phoenix,” Legacies definitely feels like it’s been changed for good (and for the better, too).

We’ve been digging around the internet for information on phoenixes’ other abilities (besides the rebirth thing) and have found very little. I mean, we all know the J.K. Rowling version of what phoenixes can do, but who knows what the rules will be in the TVD Universe.

This is an entirely new creature to this world, and the TVD rules will be all their own. The rules for vamps and wolves and witches are specific to this universe, so the rules for phoenixes will probably be special, too.

What we do know is that Landon can be reborn from his own ashes. How freakin’ cool is that?! Whether he goes on to have healing tears or be super strong or impervious to fire will be something I’m sure Alaric, Hope, and the rest of the Salvatore School hierarchy will be interested to learn, but for now, he’s Landon and he’s alive, which is good enough for me.

While trying to do a little research on the legend of the phoenix (which didn’t go well), I did see a lot about them having abnormally long lives, even without the rebirthing thing. So, Hope really did find someone who might be perfect for her. As a wolf and a witch, she has a good chance at living a good long life, but since we know she has hybrid potential coursing through her veins, it’s good that Landon’s life may be as long as hers, especially if she becomes immortal later in life.

Landon’s big reveal isn’t the only thing this episode has going for it, though. Paul Wesley did a fantastic job directing, bringing back that old school TVD feeling that we haven’t had a lot of so far this season. It was emotional and groundbreaking for the show, so we are grateful for his work and I really hope he returns to play in this world again soon.

It was touching and heartbreaking to watch M.G. suffer through his father’s damnation and learn about his mother’s betrayal of her son. But, honestly, well worth it to see M.G. learn a little more truth about his own life. And even more worth it when we see Kaleb become an even closer part of this group. He and M.G. will hopefully be there for each other for decades and centuries to come.
