Rumors have been swirling about the incredible cast that Marvel has strategically brought in for their futuristic sci-fi film, Guardians of the Galaxy, but we may finally have confirmation of the characters that Lee Pace, Benicio del Toro, and Karen Gillan will play in the film.

Despite Guardians of the Galaxy starting filming later this month, we’re still fairly unsure who each actor will be playing in the film. Now we have some rumored confirmation via Den of Geek who will be playing who.

Benicio del Toro will reportedly play The Collector, but Lee Pace is playing Ronan The Accuser, who was confirmed a few weeks back. They’re also reporting that Doctor Who‘s Karen Gillan will be playing Nebula, a pirate that is said to be the granddaughter of Thanos.

We’re still unsure who will play Rocket Raccoon, certainly the most difficult character to successfully portray.

Guardians of the Galaxy has a massively talented cast including Academy Award winning actress Glenn Close, John C. Reilly, Benicio Del Toro, Doctor Who’s Karen Gillan, Zoe Saldana, along with actor Chris Pratt, who has been cast as the lead in Guardians of the Galaxy, Star-Lord, and WWE star Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer).

Michael Rooker, the massive fan-favorite of The Walking Dead series, has also signed on to play Yondu in Marvel’s space-thriller. Rounding out the cast was Lee Pace, who we now know will play the film’s villain.

Actor Benicio del Toro is known for his menacing roles in the past, and while we thought he may be playing Thanos, we now know he’s been cast as The Collector, one of the oldest living beings in the Marvel universe. We’re excited to see how his character will be included in Guardians of the Galaxy.

Guardians of the Galaxy follows a futuristic, alien superhero team protecting the galaxy from evil, led by Peter Quill. The team first appeared in Marvel comics in 1969, but weren’t given their own series until the 1990s. Check out our latest news on Guardians of the Galaxy, as the film will hit theaters August 1, 2014.
