Fans of HBO’s Game of Thrones can now learn to speak Dothraki, without risking life and limb among the vicious horse lords.

While a fandom’s obsession with fictional languages is not a new development in the fantasy and sci-fi sphere, it is less typical to see official codexes of those languages made available for rank-and-file fans.

But luckily for fans of HBO’s epic fantasy series Game of Thrones, the linguistics company Living Language has made it easy (or anyway, easier) for enthusiasts to to learn Dothraki. The company has partnered with David J. Peterson, the man responsible for creating the languages spoken on Game of Thrones, to build Living Language Dothraki, a “conversational language course” for the fictional tongue.

No longer will those striving for fluency in the language of the horse lords need to scrape words and phrases from television scripts or Peterson’s language-wealthy website. Living Language Dothraki will include more than 500 words and phrases, and will also include brand-new linguistic material created for the course. Background on Dothraki culture will also be provided, helping learner’s understand the origins of the horse lords’ language and cultural sensitivities.

Beginners can pre-order Living Language Dothraki for $19.99, and fans who consider themselves proficient in the fictional basics can pick up the Expanded Online Course for $30.00. The truly dedicated can download the Companion Mobile App, and quiz themselves with flashcards while on the go.

Living Language Dothraki will be available on Oct. 7, 2014.

Game of Thrones season 4, episode 9, “The Watchers on the Walls,” will air on Sunday, June 8 at 9:00 p.m. on HBO.
