YA author Lauren Oliver is teaming up with Amazon Studios in a big way.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, novelist Lauren Oliver has inked a first-look deal with Amazon Studios that’ll find the author working to develop new series to stream exclusively via Prime Vide.

The forthcoming series will be produced through Glasstown Entertainment — a banner co-founded by Oliver, fellow author Lexa Hillyer, and producer Lynley Bird. The plan is to develop series that would be aimed at young adult viewers.

Currently, a series adaptation of Oliver’s YA novel, Panic, is already in the works at Amazon Studios, but it’s clear the studio is looking forward to continuing their relationship with both Oliver and Glasstown in an effort to bulk up on their teen content.

In a statement announcing the deal, Amazon Studios COO and co-head of television, Albert Cheng expressed excitement over working with Oliver, who has a firm grasp on what captivates the teenage audience.

“We’re excited to extend our relationship with Lauren Oliver and Glasstown. Lauren is a wonderful, prolific writer who knows her young audience,” said Cheng in a statement released on Monday (August 12). “As we begin production together on Panic, we’re looking forward to seeing more character-driven stories and fresh, captivating new voices from Glasstown for our Amazon Prime Video customers.”

In a joint statement Oliver, Hillyer, and Bird said, “We ares to thrilled to continue collaborating with Amazon Studios to create innovative stories for young people— across publishing, television, short form and beyond. Amazon has already been an unbelievably supportive partner to this vision, and we are excited to work with them to develop, produce, and adapt stories that matter, in multiple forms.”

The adaptation of Oliver’s Panic is scheduled to premiere via Prime Video sometime in 2020.
