Lauren Graham will adapt the recent YA release, Windfall by Jennifer E. Smith, for her production company, Good Game Productions.

The actress we have all come to know and love as Lorelai Gilmore or Sarah Braverman has made quite the name for herself as a writer over the last few years. Whether it’s her own novel, Someday, Someday Maybe, her nonfiction work in Talking as Fast as I Can: From Gilmore Girls to Gilmore Girls (and Everything in Between), or her adaptations, she’s had quite a bit of success. Her latest writing endeavor will be to adapt Windfall for the screen.

Windfall tells the story of Alice and her best friend Teddy. For his eighteenth birthday, Alice buys Teddy a lottery ticket that ends up a big winner. The $140 million changes everything, but the big question is: Will it change how Alice has always felt about her best friend?

This is not Lauren Graham’s first rodeo when it comes to adapting literature for the screen. She has previously penned screenplays for The Royal We (CBS), her own novel Someday, Someday Maybe (CW), and is currently working on the script for Wedding For One (Lakeshore Entertainment).
