Bad news for fans of the Lauren Cohan and Scott Foley spy action comedy Whiskey Cavalier. The show has been canceled by ABC.

ABC announced that it has cancelled its spy action comedy Whiskey Cavalier that was headlined by The Walking Dead alum Lauren Cohan and Scandal alum Scott Foley. The show’s premiere season didn’t bring in great ratings, but the cancellation does come as a bit of a shock given how hard ABC promoted the show as one of their biggest, new series.

As Deadline reports, the network asked WBTV for significant concessions as they negotiated a series renewal, but the two sides could not come to an agreement. The show is a big-budget spy series, so it requires a lot of funds to make the show as creator/executive producer David Hemingson and executive producer Bill Lawrence envision it, which was hard for ABC to justify given the show’s poor performance in ratings.

Both Lauren Cohan and Scott Foley took to social media to share their feelings over the cancellation as well as thank the fans of the show.

However, this cancellation doesn’t necessarily mean we’ve seen the last of Whiskey Cavalier. Deadline also reports that the show is currently being shopped to other networks and platforms, so we’ll have to wait and see if the show finds a second life elsewhere.

The Whiskey Cavalier season and ABC series finale is set to air on May 22.
