The mystery surrounding Laura Prepon’s presence on Orange is the New Black continues thanks to good news from the show’s creator today.

“Yes, yes, she is coming back,” Kohan told Us Weekly at the Writers Guild Awards on Saturday. “Not the whole season, but…you’ll see her for most of it.”

Last September we learned that Prepon would only be in one episode to send off her character Alex after the actress had other commitments that clashed with Orange is the New Black season 2 filming. Then in November we learned that she would be back for four episodes.

Now Kohan says “most of” season 2, which, if you were to overthink this statement, would mean she’d be back for more than half of the 13 episodes in production. Alternatively, Kohan could be suggesting that she’s going to appear throughout the entire season but not as much as other characters.

What will happen in the next season? The plot lines for the new episodes have been kept under tight wraps, but Kohan says OITNB will branch out to focus on all of the supporting cast members more than season 1 did.

Netflix has not set a premiere date for OITNB season 2, but at last check filming is coming to a close. Season 1 premiered in July last year, so it’s safe to assume that season 2 will be released around the same time.

Prepon’s character Alex is one of the prison inmates who gets romantically involved with the lead character Piper. Their story came to a conclusion at the end of season 1, so if Prepon were not to have appeared at all in season 2, viewers could rest easy knowing her story had an ending.

Thanks, Us Weekly.
