Clear your late night calendar in September. CBS has announced The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s premiere date!

The successor to David Letterman, who ended his Comedy Central show last month in preparation for The Late Show, will begin his role as late night network talk show host beginning September 8, 2015.

“The production office is open, the premiere date is set, and we’re incredibly excited to welcome the creative and comedic genius of Stephen Colbert to CBS late night this fall,” said Nina Tassler, Chairman of CBS Entertainment in a press release.

“I have nine months to make a show, just like a baby. So first, I should find out how you make a baby,” quipped Colbert.

As previously reported, Letterman will end his run as host of The Late Show in May. So what will air in the 11:35 p.m. time slot between May and September? CBS announced today that they will air reruns of primetime shows.

This is different from what CBS is doing in between Craig Ferguson and James Corden’s Late Late Show runs. Right now the network is welcoming a slew of celebrities including Judd Apatow and Drew Carey to host The Late Late Show before Corden begins his role as 12:35 a.m. talk show host in March.

CBS also announced this morning that they are renewing Scorpion, Madam Secretary, and NCIS: New Orleans.
