The recently cancelled right-leaning sitcom Last Man Standing will continue on at Fox.

Update: It’s official! Last Man Standing is coming back for a seventh season at Fox. It’ll premiere later this year. Keep track of all the network TV cancellations and renewals here.

Original story: The ABC sitcom launched in 2011 but was surprisingly canceled in 2017 despite the show being the second most-watched sitcom in the network’s ’16/’17 season. This strange scrapping led viewers to wonder if its cancellation had to do with it starring right-leaning Tim Allen and his conservative character Mike Baxter.

Whether that’s true or not, another Republican sitcom has spurred talks of another season, albeit at another network. According to Deadline, a second stab at reviving the show is currently underway at Fox following the success of ABC’s Roseanne, which stars fellow outspoken Republican celebrity Roseanne Barr.

While Tim Allen’s deal is already in place for a seventh season, Deadline cautions “there are still many deals to close and the show’s return is by no means a sure thing but there are promising signs that a seventh season is possible.”

Last Man Standing went off air in March 2017. CMT, who also tried to revive the show following Fox’s first attempt, has been airing re-runs ever since.
