Lana Parrilla, who plays Regina, aka the Evil Queen, on Once Upon a Time, has given a number of new interviews in which she talks about tomorrow night’s new episode of the series! Beware of some spoilers.

Sunday’s episode ‘Desperate Souls’ picks up after Graham’s shocking death before the hiatus, with Regina trying to fight Emma’s bid for sheriff.

Speaking to TV.com, Parrilla talks about the dual nature of her role, insisting that, “She does have a heart, even though she crushes everyone else’s.” Regarding her feelings for Graham, she says:

[At the end of the last episode] the Evil Queen in fairytale land said, “Take him to my bedchamber!” which I kind of like — it’s like the dominatrix in her, which is fun to play, even if it’s just a small moment. But I think in Storybrooke there are some real feelings for Graham, and you’ll see that in the upcoming episode this Sunday, you’ll see how there is a genuine care and love for Graham, so its not superficial at any level. It’s not surface, it’s not solely physical. There is a void that she’s trying to fill, and it’s not only with Henry; Graham is filling that void, or did fill that void, to some degree as well.

We’re also going to learn more about Regina and Henry’s relationship, Parrilla tells EW:

You’re going to see why Henry and Regina have the relationship they have. I’ve asked the writers about that because we often see him with Emma and are we ever going to see him with Regina again? Because, at the end of the day, he is her son. So there are some upcoming scenes with Regina, who tries to win him over again, but it’s genuine. It really is.

Finally, in a lengthy interview with TV Guide she discusses what exactly makes the Evil Queen so, well, evil. She teases:

It’s one particular moment. It’s one thing that just explodes and branches off into all these other little things, but it’s one big f—-up that changes her life.

You might think it’s to do with Snow White’s father King Leopold, who will be played by Richard Schiff in an upcoming episode, but not according to Parrilla, who says that relationship was “unhealthy and unsupportive.” No, we’ll learn of a past relationship, of which she reveals:

It is [with] someone that you’ve met before. You see this really soft, vulnerable side to her. Even her voice shifts with a softness to it. She wants to love, it’s just difficult for her. Once she has it, she doesn’t really know how to sustain it or stabilize it.

So who could it be?! Better not be Prince Charming (though it could be his dead brother, that’d be an interesting twist!).
