Lady Gaga will take the lead role in the upcoming Ridley Scott-directed film about the murder of the grandson of Guccio Gucci, the founder the Gucci dynasty.

Anyone who thought Lady Gaga would slow down as a movie star following her breakout turn in A Star Is Born certainly doesn’t know Lady Gaga.

The pop star turned movie star made her film debut in the Bradley Cooper-directed A Star is Born last year and wowed both audiences and critics alike, with the film grossing $434.9 million on a $36 million budget and netting Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Actress and winning Best Original Song for the Lady Gaga written “Shallow.”

Lady Gaga is following up that explosive debut with another movie that’s got some serious star power in the director’s chair — Ridley Scott’s upcoming film about the Gucci family fashion dynasty and the murder of the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci.

According to Deadline, Lady Gaga will star as Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci who was tried and convicted of orchestrating her ex-husband’s assassination on the steps of his office in 1995.

Maurizio Gucci had two daughters with Patrizia Reggiani, but left her for another woman. Though Reggiani’s children blamed her brain tumor for her actions, the media depicted her as a hot-blooded woman out for revenge and named her Black Widow. Though she was originally sentenced to jail for 29 years, she served 18 years before being let out of jail in 2016.

The Gucci murder movie will be scripted by relatively unknown writer Roberto Bentivegna, and is based on the Sara Gay Forden book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.

According to Deadline, it will not only focus on the murder of Maurizio Gucci, but will likewise include the rise of a family business that denigrated into squabbles over control of the business and greed.
