Lady Gaga appeared on Good Morning America Monday to perform her first ARTPOP single “Applause,” and she went with a Wizard of Oz theme.

The performance started off with Gaga as Dorothy singing a selection from “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” as an adorable puppy sits in a basket on her lap. She then transitioned into “Applause” with characters from The Wizard of Oz listening to her storytelling and providing back up dance moves.

Gaga’s been on a big promotional run for “Applause” as anticipation builds for ARTPOP this November. A couple weeks ago she opened the MTV Video Music Awards with the hit single, and a week later she unveiled several new ARTPOP songs when she opened the month-long iTunes Festival. The event could be watched around the world live for free through Apple’s iTunes service.

With “Applause” now well-established, everyone is wondering what the next ARTPOP single will be. Some believe “Aura” (also known as “Burqa”) could be next since it opened the iTunes Festival. The song leaked earlier this year and was produced by Zedd.

We were particularly big fans of the puppy and wish he/she was on stage the entire time.
