Mother Monster Lady Gaga is speaking about the release of her first 2013 single titled “Applause” and teasing what we can expect from it.

While she didn’t want to reveal too much about her new single, she did say “It is very fun” and “it’s full of happiness.”

“What I’m saying in the song essentially is that I live for the applause. I live for the way you cheer and scream for me. Give me that thing that I love. Put your hands up, make them touch.”

She also spoke about her creative process for coming to realize which songs can be hits. “I had six months to beef up my brain and my body,” she said. “I was given the time to really be creative because it’s a gazing process, it really is. I have to gaze into the work for long periods of time for it to be good. I have that feeling, that wonderful feeling, when me, Inez [Van Lamsweerde] and Brandon [Maxwell] look at each other and we go, ‘It’s so good. That’s the one.'”

The new interview was conducted by Women’s Wear Daily.

Dropping on August 12, “Applause” will be the first single released off of her fourth studio album ARTPOP.

The artwork for “Applause” was released over the weekend.

Gaga appears to be ramping up for a serious level of promotion – including a performance at the MTV VMAs on August 25 – and we can’t wait to see what else she has in store leading up to ARTPOP’s November premiere!
