Update (8/5/19): Marvel’s The Eternals is continuing to round out its cast with yet another notable name.

According to Variety, Crazy Rich Asians star Gemma Chan could be the next star to join the cast of Marvel’s The Eternals.

Chan would be in good company if she does indeed end up signing on.

The highly anticipated adaptation of Jack Kirby’s comic book series made a splash just last month at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con where the principal cast took the stage for the very first time.

Other big names who’ve signed on to star in the upcoming Marvel film include Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Bryan Tyree Henry, Salma Hayek, and Kumail Nanjiani.

Chan’s rumored involvement with the forthcoming Marvel entity is especially interesting given she’s no stranger to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Those who’ve seen this year’s Captain Marvel may remember Chan for her role as Minn-Eerva.

That being said, it’s currently unknown whether Chan would play the same character in The Eternals or a completely different character altogether.

Update (5/7/19): Game of Thrones alum Richard Madden could be heading to the big screen as part of Marvel’s The Eternals.

The Wrap reports that Richard Madden is currently in talks to join Marvel’s upcoming big screen adaptation of Jack Kirby’s The Eternals.

Currently, it’s anyone’s guess as far as which role Madden might be circling as specific details on the project are being kept firmly under wraps.

The Bodyguard star is the latest notable actor who’s been linked to the upcoming Marvel project.

Just last month we learned that Academy Award nominee Kumail Nanjiani is also currently in talks to join the cast of the film, in addition to Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie whose casting was announced back in March of this year.

Like Madden, Nanjiani’s role is currently shrouded in mystery. As for Jolie, a source close to the project is telling THR that Jolie could be assuming the role of Sersi — a member of the Eternal subrace who isn’t scared to mingle with the humans.

All of the casting buzz definitely drums up excitement for the upcoming Marvel Studios entity, and we’ll be curious to find out more about which other big name stars may be signing on.

Jack Kirby’s comics tell the story of the Eternals — a subrace of humankind created by the Celestials. Though they are human in their appearance, the Eternals are near-immortal beings and possess an array of superpowers.

Unfortunately, when the Celestials were creating the Eternals, they also gave birth to the Deviants — a race of vengeful beings born as a byproduct of the Celestial’s experiments. Now, it’s up to the Eternals to keep Earth safe from the Deviants.

Directed by Chloe Zhao and written by Matthew and Ryan Firpo, there’s still no word on when we can expect The Eternals to hit the big screen.
