Kumail Nanjiani and Issa Rae will soon be sharing the silver screen!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actors Kumail Nanjiani and Issa Rae have signed on to star in a new romantic comedy that has just been picked up by Paramount.

Nanjiani took to Twitter shortly after the news broke to let fans know just how much he’s looking forward to getting to work on the project.

“I’m so excited for this movie! Issa is the best. Truly,” tweeted the Silicon Valley star.

Titled The Lovebirds, the upcoming rom com focuses on a couple who’s about to call it quits on their relationship. Things get a little crazy when the duo find themselves wrapped up in a strange murder mystery. They’ll have to work together to solve the case and clear their names in order to stand a chance at surviving the night.

Paramount has tapped director Michael Showalter to helm The Lovebirds.

Nanjiani and Showalter are no strangers to working together, as Showalter directed Nanjiani in The Big Sick.

Showalter will be directing from a script written by Aaron Abrams, Brendan Gall, and Martin Gero. Meanwhile, both Rae and Nanjiani will serve as producers on the project.

There’s currently no word on when we can expect The Lovebirds to hit theaters, but production on the romantic comedy is expected to start at the end of January.

Meanwhile, fans of Nanjiani and Rae won’t have to wait too long before they can see both actors back on the silver screen.

Coming up next, Nanjiani will be starring opposite Guardians of the Galaxy star Dave Bautista in the action comedy Stuber. Meanwhile, Rae can next be seen starring in Universal’s upcoming comedy Little.

The films hit theaters on July 12 and April 12 of this year, respectively.
